Our infrared sauna in Melbourne uses full spectrum electromagnetic energy to penetrate three levels of tissue depth, delivering recovery, pain relief and nervous system regulation that continues working long after you leave Gravity Wellness.
You are pushing through every day feeling heavy, sore and mentally drained. The inflammation in your body has become background noise you have learned to ignore, but it is affecting your sleep, your mood and your ability to show up fully. If you are searching for infrared saunas in Melbourne because something feels off and you know your body needs more than rest, you are in the right place.
You relax in a private far infrared sauna while gentle, penetrating heat warms your body from the inside out. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air around you, infrared energy targets your tissues directly at three different depths. Sessions run for 45 minutes, and the warmth feels similar to sitting in a sunny room on a cold winter’s day. The therapeutic effects, including reduced inflammation and improved circulation, continue for hours after your session at our Melbourne clinic.
Absolutely blissful experience. I felt recharged and refreshed afterwards. But most importantly the staff were friendly and professional and the centre was clean and serene. I was a sceptic initially but Gravity has changed all that after one float. I have floated three times and urge anyone to come to Gravity float and immerse yourself in the whole experience more than once to really enjoy its benefits. I was lucky enough to meet the owners on my second float and I must say that I have never met a more dedicated and passionate business couple in my life. They have left their personal touch on this place. Sorry, I am off to Gravity right now for a float …..
I have been a member of Gravity Float for more than two years and can truly say that this place is a haven away from the hustles and bustles of everyday life. The staff are always so lovely, kind, patient and accommodating that I always feel welcomed here. The facilities are clean and the magnesium float pods are so rejuvenating. I can happily say that I will continue to be a member here and treat this as a sanctuary to enjoy some peace, solicitude and relaxation.
Just had my first float experience thanks to a gift card from my partner for Christmas. I was quite anxious prior because I have experienced a stroke, I’m not by any means lithe and I’m a big girl. The staff who looked after me were lovely and helpful. The float itself was amazing. I struggle with mobility and couldn’t figure how I might bring the lid down while trying to get into the pod so I had to leave it open. It didn’t matter…I managed to let go and completely relax and focus on my breathing. Getting out was a challenge because I had to kneel to counter the forces of the float. Kneeling is extremely painful for me due to arthritis. In spite of the challenges, I’d really recommend this to anyone who lives with pain and anxiety. I came out feeling relaxed and could feel how it reduced the pain I experience immediately. I’m booked in again for next week! Bring it on.
Love this floatation centre for so many reasons. The staff are amazing, knowledgeable and happy to help. The manager is actually passionate about the healing power that is offered. The waiting area is super chill always a yummy tea and water on offer. The infrared sauna is equip with Bluetooth connection so I connect up a meditation mix through my mobile phone lay back and relax. A robe is provided for ease of then moving the the flotation room. The float rooms are large, shower equipped, music plays you have the option of leaving on or turning off pod lights and of course open or closing the pod lid. Afterwards you have plenty of time to shower, change and you can move to the ‘hair drying station’. This area has straighteners curlers and hair dryers. I bought an intro pass for infrared and float – which is CRAZY cheap to buy. Next on my list is trying the massage services. Highly highly recommend giving Gravity a shot the location is also super convenient afterward go for brunch, lunch or dinner at one of the amazing high st locations!
This was my first experience with the infrared sauna. I had read the benefits and had researched. Everything I have read was positive. Easy to Navigate and your own private room. I had read what to do as a lead up, eat light and drink a glass of water before your session. And I have to say I loved it. Got up to 60 degrees, the highest recommended and it didn’t take long to feel the tension and muscle soreness leave the body. I am feeling great and very Zen. Cannot wait for next session. This is now the next day and I still feel great. I highly recommend the infrared sauna to anyone who has muscle soreness and suffers from ongoing injury also. I have started up running again and I also go to the gym and do resistance training and cardio and my hip flexor is a constant source of pain. I have felt the difference after only one session. Next will be the float pod to try.
Tried floating for the first time and while I don’t think floating is for me, this place deserves a 5 star for sure. My technician explained the process and what to expect when floating thoroughly. Everything was clean and dry it was immaculate, not even a single hair or wet spot to be found on the floor. Shampoo, body wash, conditioner, towels, facial wipes, ear plugs, hair dryers etc all provided you literally just need to rock up and enjoy the relaxing experience. For those who do enjoy floating this is the place to come!
Been to gravity float several times now and every experience has been excellent. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and professional. The float pods and rooms are well taken care of and clean. They’re also now NDIS providers which makes it a lot more affordable for me and others on the NDIS to go more regularly. (The casual prices are still good if your not on the NDIS). I would highly recommend going to gravity float and I look forward to more appointments in the future.
Floatation therapy has been a game changer for helping cope with anxiety and OCD. It is an activity that allows my brain to rest and give me calm and peace. The one hour floats feels like an uninterrupted 8 hours sleep. Let me not forget to also thank all of the staff as they have been accommodating and understanding, not to mention extremely welcoming, when I finally felt comfortable to discuss my reasons for seeking out their facility and services. Thank you to everyone I have interacted with at Gravity.
I’ve been to other float spaces that try to sell you packages whilst you’re super zonked out afterwards. It’s not nice being constantly barraged as a consumer online let alone offline whilst vulnerable. This space did not do that. The add ons were gently mentioned, which I appreciated, as well as the signage in the rooms explaining the sequential procedure of the experiences. Float tank, Infrared – but I forgot to ask if you need to expose all of your skin to get the full benefits, or if laying/sitting in one spot is good enough. All in all, I enjoyed the space and would recommend. The inclusive take home ear plugs was a nice surprise and maybe worth an advertised mention too. Thank you
Infrared therapy in Melbourne at Gravity Wellness suits athletes recovering from training, people managing chronic pain or inflammation, anyone dealing with poor sleep and those carrying the physical effects of long term stress. It is also well suited to people looking to support their immune system, circulation and overall longevity as part of a proactive wellness routine. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition or are unsure whether infrared is right for you, our team will talk through your situation before booking to make sure it is safe and appropriate.
We're Victoria's first and largest float centre with over ten years of experience. This isn't a trend for us. It's what we were built to do.
Every modality we offer has been chosen based on scientific evidence. We don't add services because they're popular. We add them because they work.
Every room is private and confidential. We believe wellness is a personal practice, not a group activity. No distractions, no noise, just you and your wellbeing.
We help determine the right therapies for your body and build a plan around your goals. We care about what you need, not just what you ask for.
Our services are designed as an integrated system. Each therapy supports your nervous system from a different angle, compounding benefits rather than treating symptoms in isolation.
Thousands of glowing reviews and no complaints over decades of operation. Our team goes the extra mile because your wellbeing matters to them personally.
Arrive hydrated and wear whatever is comfortable for you. Our team will welcome you, walk you through the session and set the Melbourne infrared sauna to the right temperature for your needs. Afterwards, you may feel deeply relaxed and continue sweating as your body processes the heat. Drink plenty of water and allow yourself time to rest. For best results, we recommend regular sessions and combining infrared with float therapy or massage to compound the benefits for your nervous system.
We offer casual sessions, multi session packs and memberships designed to make regular infrared therapy in Melbourne sustainable and affordable. Sessions run for 45 minutes in a private room, with options to bring a friend. View our full pricing or book your session online at Gravity Wellness.
The first thing people notice is a stress-relieving relaxation of the muscles. Tension melts away and the deep penetrating warmth is very soothing on aches and pains. With regular use you feel the benefits of a deep, healthy sweat that purifies your body and improves circulation. After the first session, people often notice clearer skin and a deep, restful sleep.
Infrared is safe and healthy for all living things. Far from a new technology, infrared has been used in a variety of health and human movement applications for many years. Our Infrared room uses a refined heating technology called Solocarbon, which is used in day spas, gyms, training studios and health practices worldwide. Unlike tanning beds, our unit uses infrared heating, which is entirely different to microwaves, or ultraviolet radiation.
No, infrared and red light therapy are not the same, although they’re related and often used together. The key difference is their wavelength, which determines how deeply they penetrate the body. Red light therapy has shorter wavelengths that are best for surface-level issues like skin rejuvenation, while infrared light has longer wavelengths that can penetrate deeper to treat muscles, joints, and nerves. Benefits: Red Light Therapy treats skin concerns such as acne, wrinkles, and wound healing, and helps stimulate collagen production. Infrared light therapy helps with pain relief, muscle and joint recovery, and circulation by reaching deeper tissues and bones.
To experience the therapeutic benefits of infrared, the optimum temperature range is between 38°C and 58°C. Sunlighten infrared saunas are 95-99% emissive to deliver the highest concentration of infrared between 38°C and 58°C. Sunlighten infrared saunas are therapeutic because of infrared precision, quality and quantity, not because of heat.
Fresh towels are provided, as well as shower products and drinking water. If you are sharing with a friend you may want to bring a sarong to use for modesty otherwise wearing nothing is better.
It is not recommended that infrared is used during pregnancy.
There is an optional shower with the infrared sauna, however, we recommend not showering directly after your sauna session to maximise the infrared benefits (unless you are floating directly after). Following your infrared session you may continue to sweat, and it is best to allow that process to occur naturally without showering for a few hours.
Don’t be surprised if you don’t sweat during the first few sessions. Sweating will increase with regular use, removing toxins and leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Women may take 4-6 sessions to sweat. Whilst men generally sweat in their first session.
Sauna sessions are best started when the sauna reaches 38°C. The optimal sauna experience occurs between 38°C and 58°C. High heat is not required to provide the benefits of Infrared. The sauna is not designed to run at high heat 65°C+ for long periods.
Consult a Doctor if you have a concern of any kind and you do not see it on this list. Alcohol & Drug Abuse: it is not advisable to attempt to “sweat out” a hangover. Alcohol intoxication decreases a person’s judgment and increases the heart rate, which may be further increased by heat stress. Cardiovascular Issues, Obesity or Diabetes: individuals suffering from obesity or with a medical history of heart disease, low or high blood pressure, circulatory problems or diabetes should consult a physician prior to use. Chronic Conditions/Diseases Associated With Reduced Ability To Sweat Or Perspire: Multiple Sclerosis, Central Nervous System Tumors and Diabetes with Neuropathy are conditions that are associated with impaired sweating. Elderly: operate at a lower temperature and for no more than 15 minutes at a time. Fever & Insensitivity To Heat: individuals with insensitivity to heat or who have a fever should not use the sauna until the fever subsides. Haemophiliacs/Individuals Prone To Bleeding: the use of infrared saunas should be avoided by anyone who is predisposed to bleeding. Implants: metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system, nevertheless consult your physician prior to using. Joint Injury: recent (acute) joint injury should not be heated for the first 48 hours or until the swollen symptoms subside. Major Health Issues: if you have or have had any major health problems you should consult your doctor. Medications: individuals who are using prescription drugs should seek the advice of their personal physician since some medications may induce drowsiness, while others may affect heart rate, blood pressure and circulation. Menstruation: heating of the low back area of women during the menstrual period may temporarily increase menstrual flow. This should not preclude sauna use. Women are to use suitable hygiene products when using the sauna. Pacemakers/Defibrillators (implanted): the magnets used to assemble our saunas can interrupt the pacing and inhibit the output of pacemakers. Please discuss with your doctor the possible risks this may cause. Pregnancy: pregnant women should consult a physician before using an infrared sauna. It is generally advised that pregnant women should not use an infrared sauna.
We suggest that if you are looking to achieve a particular health goal, it is recommended to infrared multiple times per week (up to daily sessions). However, if you are using infrared for wellness maintenance, it is recommended to use at least once a week.
We encourage our clients to switch off from technology and other devices when going into the infrared sauna. It is not recommended to bring your phone, laptop or tablet into the sauna as the heat & infrared waves affect these devices. The infrared is hooked up to wifi and there is a possibility to browse the web (ie/ YouTube etc). However, it is highly encouraged to not access apps or other visual stimuli. We do not offer or advertise the use of Netflix with the sauna service.
The EMF in a Sunlighten sauna is less than a standard hair dryer. The EMF attributable to a hair dryer at 6 inches away is about 300 mG. Our saunas have been measured between 0 and 10 mG. EMFs are measured in units called milligauss (mG). Infrared saunas heat your body directly (as opposed to the air around you) by emitting infrared radiant heat. The waves, similar to those produced by the sun, penetrate and heat your body. The infrared waves are safe, used even to heat newborn babies in hospitals. EMF is everywhere in our offices and our homes. The electrical appliances we use like keyboards and mice, wireless modems, cordless phones, clock radios, hair dryers, mobile phones, microwave ovens and more, all produce EMFs. Better Health Victoria states ‘Scientific evidence does not demonstrate a causal link between typical exposures to EMF and adverse health effects.’
You don’t need to have it all figured out. Book your first session and let our team guide you to the right therapy for where your body is right now. One hour with us can change how you feel for the rest of the week.
Have been a few times and got something different out of it each time, It is definitely worth going at least twice.
Friendly and warm environment. A unique experience like no other. The staff are amazing and are always up for a chat. It’s a really good mini get away from busy life. ( even if its only for an hour ) ,)
This was my first float experience and I absolutely loved it! The staff were really friendly and the facilities were clean and exactly as advertised. Love the space themed room names.
Great experience. The rooms are clean, service is excellent and I got exactly what was promised. The products in the shower are nice too. The introductory offer is a great way to sample floating.
As John Lennon said, “Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream”. This is a great experience, in a great facility, with a friendly team to support you on your trip into the ultimate relaxed state. Go on, you know you want to…
Such a special place! I feel calmer as soon as I walk in the door. Staff are wonderful, and floating itself is such a unique experience. Always dreaming about when I can go back! ❤️
I had a float a while back! Amazing experience, highly recommend for athletes and regular health practitioners, great for relaxing the muscles. Definitely looking forward to my next float.

This place is absolutely divine. From the super friendly, welcoming, pleasant staff to the gorgeous pod float rooms that are immaculately clean. This has to be THE best float centre I have ever visited. Float therapy is my definite go-to for relaxation. The best way I can reset and re-energize. I always walk out feeling like a brand new person and can’t wait to come back every time. Love love love!!
What a fabulous place to relax! I have been going for a year now and always look forward the next float. The staff are extremely friendly and the pods/ rooms are always sparkling clean. Just bought a 10 pack, can’t wait to go back again. Thank you to all the staff for their friendliness and for going the extra mile to make you feel welcome.
Best therapy for clearing creative blocks and for complete muscle and mind relaxation. I love the staff, the rooms and the pods are spotless. I have recently bought a membership as I can’t imagine not incorporating regular floats into my weekly routine. Highly recommend as the results are instantaneous and ongoing.

Well my first experience of an isolation tank for my Winter aches and pains. I decided to take up the Introductory offer of 3 floats. Thoroughly “blissed out” with the total darkness, isolation and gravity free sensation. When the music came back on I just wanted to be left there and really wanted the experience to last longer. Yes, I enjoyed the whole experience thoroughly and look forward to my next 2 floatations with the Gravity Floatation Centre.
The anti-gravity is extremely relaxing and helps greatly with sleep. I saw immediate improvements with my skin, my acne calmed down and cleared up quickly after my float, very satisfied!!
